DIA DE LOS MUERTOS (DAY OF THE DEAD)
WHAT IS THE MEANING OF DAY OF THE DEAD?
The day of the dead is one of the most important festivities in Mexico because Mexicans honor their dead with a joyful and positive celebration, turned into a fantastic popular holiday. The conception of life and death, as well as all the traditions and ancient beliefs that revolve around the subject, is a characteristic that distinguishes Mexicans from the rest of the world. On November 1 and 2, Mexicans go to the cemeteries and make offerings to celebrate death. The Day of the Dead celebration is divided into two parts: November 1, which is All Saints' Day, celebrates all the saints who had an exemplary life, as well as the deceased children and on November 2, which the Day of the Dead is celebrated is the general celebration as such in which it is customary to bring flowers to the graves of family members and often spend the night awaiting their dead to find their way back to earth. The goal is to remember and celebrate loved ones who are no longer with us. The Day of the Dead is originally celebrated in Mexico but also in other countries such as Guatemala, Brazil, Spain and in the United States you will see Mexicans clinging to their traditions.
QUE SIGNIFICA EL DA DE MUERTOS?
El d穩a de los muertos es una de las festividades m獺s importantes en M矇xico porque los mexicanos honran a sus difuntos con una celebraci籀n alegre y positiva, convertida en una fant獺stica fiesta popular. La concepci籀n de la vida y la muerte, as穩 como todas las tradiciones y antiguas creencias que giran alrededor del tema es una caracter穩stica que distingue a los mexicanos del resto del mundo. El 1 y 2 de noviembre los mexicanos acuden a los panteones y ponen ofrendas para celebrar la muerte. La celebraci籀n del D穩a de Muertos se divide en dos partes: el 1 de Noviembre, que es el D穩a de todos los Santos festejan a todos los santos que tuvieron una vida ejemplar, as穩 como a los ni簽os difuntos y en el 2 de Noviembre, que se festeja el D穩a de Muertos es ya la celebraci籀n general como tal en la que se acostumbra llevar flores a las tumbas de los familiares y muchas veces pasar la noche en vela esperando a que sus muertos encuentren el camino de regreso a la tierra. El objetivo es recordar y festejar a los seres queridos que ya no se encuentran con nosotros. El D穩a de los Muertos se celebra originalmente en M矇xico, pero tambi矇n en otros pa穩ses como Guatemala, Brasil, Espa簽a y en los Estados Unidos ver獺s a mexicanos aferrados a sus tradiciones.
