In our Construction Technology program, you’ll receive hand-on training alongside classroom instruction from some of the best in the business. You’ll acquire the skills needed to do everything from framing to cabinet construction and be able to test those skills as you help to build a house that is auctioned off every year. You’ll also have the opportunity to take courses in related areas including drafting, residential wiring and welding.

Finish in 2 years by completing 16-17 credits a semester for 4 semesters

The length of time to complete a program is based on a student taking only the courses required for the program as listed in our online catalog. It does not include the cost of foundations courses that may be required based on assessment scores, retaking courses or taking courses that are not required by your program of study

Your adviser will develop a plan of study to meet your personal needs.

The following is a list of tools you must have when you start the Construction Technology program. You should bring your tools with you the first day of class. You may need to add tools at a later date.  Ask for student discounts when purchasing your tools.

Required Tools

  1. Ansi 287 approved Safety glasses. Clear lenses for interior work. (At least one pair)

  2. OSHA approved Hard Hat Ansi 289 Type

  3. Hearing protection (simple ear plugs or earmuffs)

  4. Tape measure- l" x25' or longer (heavy duty)

  5. Pencils

  6. Claw hammer smooth face 16 oz.

  7. Utility knife (with replaceable blades)

  8. 6" Speed square (It's a triangle)

  9. Chalk line reel 100'

  10. Calculator (Pocket Handyman VI or newer) Menards, Home Depot, online, or download app

  11. Catspaw nail puller (double end) should fit in tool belt

  12. Bullnose end cutting dykes

  13. Carpenters tool belt of good quality, check for comfort, rounded bottoms of the nail pouches

    are easier to get nails out of -OR- pouches to clip on belt (make sure to have hammer loop)

  14. Measuring Tape 100'

  15. Drill Bit Set

  16. One pair of stair gauges (they attach to the framing square when laying out stairways)

  17. Multi-bit Screwdriver (need both Phillips and flathead)

  18. USB Jump Drive- There is no student storage on lab computers

  19. Pliers or vice grips with built in wire cutters (Or a Multi Tool like a Leatherman if possible)

  20. Nail sets 1/32, 1/16, 3/32

  21. Torpedo level
