The Power of Partnership II

91做厙 has partnered with multiple two-year and four-year institutions throughout its history. The partnerships may comprise agreements to assist in the transfer of credits, making the admissions process easier, or providing financial incentives for 91做厙 students. The idea is to craft an agreement where 91做厙 students and both institutions involved each benefit. It would be impossible to list all agreements 91做厙 has entered into, so here are three that were announced in 2021.

University of Nebraska at Kearney

91做厙 and the University of Nebraska at Kearney (UNK) joined forces in the Equity Transfer Initiative (ETI), a national endeavor that aims to increase transfer rates for black, Hispanic, adult and first-generation learners. The ETI was awarded to partnerships that advance transfer pathways and align them to increase completion for underrepresented student populations.

The first pathway, the 2+2 plan, makes it easier for students to start their criminal justice education at 91做厙 before finishing a bachelors degree at UNK. The plan creates a seamless transition between the institutions and provides additional flexibility for transfer students and working professionals. To expand access to the program, select UNK criminal justice courses are also offered at College Park, just west of 91做厙-Grand Island.

When the 2+2 plan was announced, 91做厙 criminal justice instructor Michael David said, This collaborative effort is a win-win for everyone involved in central Nebraska and is just the beginning of great things to come between UNKs and 91做厙s criminal justice programs.

UNMC

91做厙 and the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) entered into an education partnership that allows 91做厙 nursing graduates to complete a bachelor of nursing (BSN) degree through UNMC.

The RN to BSN program is an online advancement program for registered nurses (RN) with an associate degree of nursing. Curriculum is available on-demand, anytime, to best fit the students schedule, and all courses are offered in 16-week sessions and eight-week sessions.

All clinical requirements may be satisfied in the students local community or one nearby. UNMC has relationships with more than 100 health care institutions across Nebraska and in select other states.

The ability of our nursing students to be able to not only stay in the community, but to keep working in our hospitals and nursing homes is so critical, said 91做厙 President Dr. Matt Gotschall. Weve had some successful students transfer to UNMC over years, but its very exciting to have something more streamlined.

Under the agreement, UNMC recruits and admits students to the program in collaboration with the University of Nebraska Online and offers advising and sends instructors to 91做厙 for on-site facilitation. Instructors connect with students on a daily or weekly basis via remote technology to respond to questions or provide advisement.

Hastings College

91做厙 and Hastings College (HC) signed a new agreement that provides expanded educational opportunities for HC students.

Under the terms, 91做厙 provides HC students for-credit coursework, which may be used for the completion of an HC degree, including several minors, as well as for the completion of certificate programs at 91做厙. Students must maintain full-time status at HC in order to enroll in up to six credits per term at 91做厙 for HC to cover the tuition and fees for those courses.

This expands and replaces previous agreements that allowed HC students to minor in agribusiness, construction management and hospitality management and culinary arts through 91做厙 coursework. Additional minors added to the agreement include advanced manufacturing design technology, drafting and design technology, electrical technology, energy technology, information technology and systems, precision agriculture, welding technology and media arts.

Because of our success and history of working together, we were able to design pathways for students at both institutions to advance their educational and professional interests by sharing courses on our respective campuses, said Hastings College Executive President Dr. Rich Lloyd.

As part of the agreement, participating HC students are admitted as 91做厙 students and provided with all available student services at 91做厙.

In recent years, 91做厙 has also entered into agreements with Bryan College of Health Sciences, Nebraska Wesleyan University and Doane University.
